The Department of Agriculture-Bureau of Soils and Water Management Central Office, paid a courtesy call to Gov. RV Evardone on April 20 as it officially commenced its field activities in Eastern Samar.
The initiative is part of the department’s continuing efforts to strengthen agricultural development through science-based interventions, enhanced data collection, and on-site validation of land resources.
Two teams are scheduled to be deployed starting tomorrow to San Julian and Sulat to conduct a two-day field validation of land uses.
Using the Survey123 application, the teams will carry out soil sampling in selected areas to assess actual ground conditions and ensure the collection of accurate and reliable site-specific data.
The activity will focus on the assessment of soil fertility and nutrient status. The data gathered will be used in the preparation of updated maps and baseline information on land use within the province.
The results of the study are expected to support farmers and local government units in identifying suitable crops for specific areas and determining the appropriate type and amount of fertilizers to be applied, thereby promoting improved productivity and sustainable land management practices.
