Gov. RV Evardone visited the Municipal Hall of Balangiga this morning, July 6, 2026, to lead early planning for the 125th commemoration of the Balangiga Encounter, reaffirming the provincial government’s commitment to supporting the historic milestone.
The visit comes after the governor’s commitment made last year during the commemorative program, where he pledged that the provincial government would extend all possible assistance in commemorating the 125th Balangiga Massacre—not just for the people of Balangiga, but for all Estehanons.
Among the activities discussed and proposed during the planning session were a fun run, an essay writing contest, a photo contest, a diorama contest, a quiz bee, and more aimed at engaging both the youth and the broader community.
Balangiga Mayor Atty. Danna Flynch De Lira welcomed Gov. Evardone and expressed her gratitude for the early planning initiated by the young governor himself, noting that the head start would allow the municipality and the province to prepare a commemoration worthy of the event’s significance.
