Officials from the Borongan City Fire Station paid a visit to Gov. RV Evardone to discuss the fire safety compliance status of the Eastern Samar Provincial Hospital (ESPH) following a recent Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) inspection.
According to the BFP directive, several fire safety deficiencies identified during the inspection remain unresolved, prompting authorities to require the submission of compliance documents and immediate corrective actions to ensure the safety of patients, hospital personnel, and visitors.
During the meeting, Gov. Evardone informed the fire officials that a major renovation of ESPH is expected this year, with a proposed ₱500 million funding, aimed at upgrading hospital facilities, including improvements to its fire protection system.
As part of their visit, the BFP officials also held a brief coordination meeting with the Provincial Engineering Office to clarify plans and technical requirements concerning the hospital’s fire safety system and future infrastructure developments. (TAC-JDM)
