To evaluate the province’s performance from the previous year against the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) indicators, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) led the Regional Champions for Good Local Governance (RCGLG) Compliance and Performance Review Meeting on April 28, 2026, at the PGO Conference Room.
The review aimed to identify specific areas where the province fell short and to determine necessary actions to improve readiness for the upcoming assessment cycle.
As a way forward, the DILG recommended that the province institutionalize the SGLG governance system, strengthen compliance tracking, and proactively address systemic bottlenecks that often cause delays.
Additionally, the body suggested conducting quarterly performance reviews for each governance area and ensuring that preparations for the assessment cycle begin as early as possible.
Gov. RV Evardone acknowledged the challenges ahead but expressed confidence in the team’s ability to improve.
He noted, “Let’s take it step by step, but we’ll get there. We just have to overcome certain hurdles first, na medyo maiha na ha aton, then we’ll go from there.”
The review was attended by representatives from the DILG and various provincial departments, including the Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO), the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (ESDRRMO), and the offices of the Provincial Accountant, Planning and Development Coordinator (PPDO), Treasurer (PTO), Provincial Assessor’s Office, and Provincial Tourism Office.
