The upcoming construction of the new Giporlos Wet Public Market is set to begin this year, under the funding of the Provincial Government of Eastern Samar.
The public market is expected to support the local economy by providing a proper and accessible trading center for vendors, including small fisherfolk who rely on the daily sale of their fresh catch as mentioned by Gov. Ralph Vincent Evardone during the site inspection.
Congressman Sheen P. Gonzales also committed to build a new dry public market for the municipality of Giporlos.
With an improved facility, fisherfolk will have better opportunities to sell their produce directly, potentially increasing their income and reducing post-harvest losses.
Governor Evardone and Congressman Sheen P. Gonzales was joined by Mayor Gilberto Go and Vice Mayor Christopher Go during the inspection to assess the necessary preparations ahead of construction.
