The Provincial Technical Education and Skills Development Committee (TESDC) convened its First-Quarter Meeting, presided over by Gov. RV Evardone today, March 26, 2026, at Melinda’s Resort Function Room.
The meeting discussed key priorities and strategies aimed at strengthening workforce development, improving employability, and aligning local training programs with industry needs.
In his speech, Gov. Evardone emphasized the importance of not only providing skills training but also making sure that there are available employment opportunities for TESDA graduates.
In addition, he highlighted specific interventions the provincial government can implement to strengthen the local workforce through skills development. One of the primary initiatives he was eyeing was the provision of post-TESDA assistance for graduates to complement scholarships given by TESDA.
This support is designed to provide graduates with the necessary tools and resources to help them secure and maintain stable employment after TESDA training.
Present during the meeting were TESDA Eastern Samar led by Provincial Director Antonio Waniwan; Eastern Samar Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Conrad Uy; DTI Eastern Samar Provincial Office Business Development Division Chief Gwen Ponferrada; and TESDA school administrators. (SEJ-JDM)
