Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Tacloban Extension Office Director Desiree P. Cuenco led a courtesy visit to Gov. RV Evardone this week to discuss corporate registration trends and investor protection initiatives in the province.
During the visit, the SEC team reported that Eastern Visayas currently hosts 13,000 registered corporations, with Eastern Samar accounting for 9 percent, or 1,221 corporations, of the regional total.
Cuenco underscored the SEC’s commitment to investor protection, with plans to conduct an investor education program in Eastern Samar to help safeguard the public against fraudulent investment schemes.
Gov. Evardone welcomed the initiative, noting it aligns with his administration’s goal of promoting financial literacy among Estehanons.
He expressed full support for the program, citing its importance in empowering residents with sound financial knowledge and awareness.
Both parties agreed to pursue further collaboration on the education campaign initiative. (RCS-GBP)
