Quinapondan Fighting Carabaos pulled off a monumental upset, dethroning the two-time defending champions Guiuan Blue Marlins, 83-74, to capture the ESBVL Season 6 South Division Basketball Boys title during their head-to-head yesterday, June 3, 2026.
The victory brings an end to Guiuan’s multi-year domination of the southern division, after the Blue Marlins comfortably took home the championship titles in both Season 4 and Season 5.
From the opening tip-off, the Fighting Carabaos proved they weren’t intimidated by the champions’ pedigree, relying on their relentless interior presence and gritty defense to wear down the explosive offense of Guiuan.
