Gov. RV Evardone turned over a brand-new patient transport vehicle (PTV) to the Taft District Hospital (TDH), strengthening the facility’s capacity to respond to emergency cases in the municipality and nearby areas.
During the turnover, Evardone committed ₱9 million worth of repairs for the hospital that will be implemented this year.
The funding is broken down into ₱3 million for the electrical repairs of the building and ₱6 million for the roofing.
The governor said that with the budget season approaching, he will ensure that necessary repairs and other needs of public hospitals operated by the provincial government across Eastern Samar are properly funded.
In her acceptance message, TDH Chief of Hospital Dr. Ma. Melissa A. de Lira said the PTV reflects the shared purpose of the governor, the hospital’s employees, and all officials of the province.
She also committed to ensuring the vehicle’s proper utilization for the emergency needs of TDH’s patients and the people of Eastern Samar.
The hospital’s chief nurse likewise expressed gratitude over the donation.
The Patient Transport Vehicle is granted by President Bongbong Marcos thru the PCSO Medical Transport Vehicle Donation Program.
TDH currently has a 25-bed capacity across eight inpatient rooms. The hospital began operations in 1978 with its first building, and was followed by a new building constructed in 2024 under the leadership of former governor Ben P. Evardone.
Taft District Hospital is located in Brgy. Poblacion 4, Taft.
