The Provincial Director of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), Engr. Jesus Jeremy D. Bagares, paid a courtesy call on Eastern Samar Governor RV Evardone, seeking his support for activities in observance of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on June 17, 2026.
Gov. Evardone committed his full support to the initiative, reaffirming the provincial government’s active participation in national anti-drug campaigns.
On child welfare, the DILG presented the results of the Functionality Assessment Tool evaluation of the Provincial Council for the Protection of Children.
Eastern Samar’s council received a score of 83.06 — ideal, reflecting a functional council working to uphold children’s rights and welfare across the province.
The visit also served as an opportunity to review the province’s ongoing plans under the Peace and Order and Public Safety and the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction program, with both officials aligning on measures to ensure these plans are carried out effectively and on schedule. (RCS-JDM)
