Fun Borongan put on a dominant display to move within one win of the title, sweeping a resilient Maydolong squad in straight sets, 25-14, 25-21, 26-24, in Game 1 of the Eastern Samar Basketball and Volleyball League (ESBVL) Finals today, June 21, 2026, at the Provincial Capitol Gym in Borongan City.
Fun Borongan came out firing on all cylinders in the opening frame, using aggressive serving and pinpoint execution to easily claim the first set, 25-14.
Maydolong found their footing in the second stanza, mounting a stiffer resistance, but Borongan’s steady defense allowed them to pull away late and secure the set, 25-21.
With their backs against the wall, Maydolong staged a furious late-game rally. Erasing a late deficit, they caught up to tie the game at 24-24, threatening to extend the match, but Borongan locked down on defense and executed two clutch consecutive plays to settle the score at 26-24.
