Fun Borongan capped off an outstanding campaign by defeating the Maydolong Gladiators in straight sets in Game 2 of the Season 6 Eastern Samar Basketball and Volleyball League (ESBVL) Girls Volleyball Finals, finally ending its long wait for a title.
Fun Borongan came out firing in the opening set, building a commanding early lead behind a relentless offensive. Despite a spirited rally from the Gladiators, Fun Borongan maintained control from start to finish to claim the first set, 25–14.
Fueled by the loud cheers of the hometown crowd, the Gladiators elevated their performance in the second set and kept the outcome within reach. However, Fun Borongan responded with disciplined defense and timely attacks to pull away late and secure the set, 25–17.
The third set developed into a tightly contested battle, with both teams trading momentum and crucial points. The Gladiators fought hard to extend the match, but Fun Borongan held its composure and refused to relinquish the lead, sealing the final set, 25–20, to complete the straight-set victory.
With the win, Fun Borongan was crowned the Season 6 ESBVL Girls Volleyball champion, taking home the championship trophy, gold medals, and the ₱100,000 grand prize. Maydolong settled for the runner-up trophy, silver medals, and a ₱75,000 cash prize.
Adding to the celebration, Danica Jane G. Librella of Fun Borongan was named Most Valuable Player after delivering outstanding performances throughout the tournament. (TAC-GBP)
