ComNet 2026 strengthens government communications network in Eastern Samar

Government information officers, media practitioners, and communicators from various agencies in Eastern Samar gathered for the Communicators Network (ComNet) 2026 meeting today at the PGO conference hall.
Organized by the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Eastern Samar, the activity aimed to strengthen coordination among communicators and promote responsible and accurate dissemination of public information.
In his opening message, Samuel D. Candido, ICM, PIA Eastern Samar emphasized the importance of collaboration among government communicators in addressing misinformation and ensuring the timely delivery of verified information to the public.
One of the highlights of the gathering was the discussion led by Reyan L. Arinto, regional head of PIA Eastern Visayas, on “Unified Messaging and Fake News Response.”
Arinto underscored the need for stronger coordination among government communicators to ensure that official and verified information reaches the public promptly, especially during emergencies, government programs, and public service announcements.
He also emphasized the vital role of information officers and media practitioners in combating misinformation and disinformation through fact-based reporting and the responsible use of communication platforms.
The activity also featured the election of officers for the Association of Government Information Officers (AGIO) Eastern Samar chapter, which aims to strengthen the network of public information officers in the province.
