Eastern Samar’s inflation rate eased to 5.8 percent in June 2026 from 7.3 percent in May, according to the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).
The 1.5-percentage-point slowdown was primarily driven by the lower inflation rate for food and non-alcoholic beverages, which decelerated to 5.5 percent in June from 8.2 percent in the previous month.
Inflation also slowed in transport, easing to 9.6 percent from 14.7 percent, and in restaurants and accommodation services, which declined slightly to 18 percent from 18.8 percent.
Meanwhile, faster inflation was recorded in housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels, which increased to 5.2 percent from 5 percent, and health, which rose to 4.3 percent from 3.8 percent.
Despite the overall slowdown, food and non-alcoholic beverages remained the largest contributor to the province’s June inflation, accounting for 47.4 percent of the overall inflation.
It was followed by housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels at 16.5 percent, and restaurants and accommodation services at 13.4 percent.

Eastern Samar’s June inflation rate was lower than the 7 percent regional inflation rate for Eastern Visayas and the 6.4 percent national inflation rate, according to the PSA’s latest inflation report. (TAC-FCL)
