The Quinapondan Fighting Carabaos kept their championship hopes alive after defeating Fun Borongan, 104–97, in overtime in Game 2 of the Season 6 Eastern Samar Basketball and Volleyball League (ESBVL) Men’s Basketball Finals.
Quinapondan dominated the opening quarter, racing to a 32–17 lead behind a strong offensive performance while limiting Fun Borongan’s scoring opportunities.
Fun Borongan answered in the second quarter and trimmed the deficit, but the Fighting Carabaos maintained control to take a 49–39 advantage into halftime.
Quinapondan continued to dictate the pace in the third quarter, extending its lead to 75–54 and putting Fun Borongan in a difficult position heading into the final period.
Fun Borongan mounted a furious comeback in the fourth quarter, erasing the deficit and tying the game at 89–89 with 8.75 seconds remaining to force overtime.
In the extra five-minute period, the Fighting Carabaos regained control and outscored Fun Borongan to secure the victory.
The Season 6 ESBVL Men’s Basketball championship will now be decided in a winner-take-all Game 3, scheduled at 3:30 pm tomorrow, June 27, at the Provincial Capitol Gym. (TAC-GBP)
