The provincial government of Eastern Samar led by Gov. RV Evardone joined a four-day renewable energy roadmap scoping workshop organized by the Institute for Climate and Sustainable Cities (ICSC) on May 18 to 21 at Luxent Hotel in Quezon City.
The event gathered provincial officials, department heads, and members of the technical working group.
Aimed at strengthening Eastern Samar’s renewable energy planning and energy security strategies, the workshop covered national energy policies, renewable energy frameworks, power systems, and community-based energy solutions, alongside discussions on financing mechanisms to support sustainable project implementation.
Participants also engaged in collaborative exercises to assess the province’s energy needs and identify actionable strategies for improving access to reliable and sustainable electricity, particularly for islands and far-flung communities.
The activity concluded with the presentation of an initial Renewable Energy Roadmap and the identification of members for the province’s Local Energy Council, marking a key step toward advancing Eastern Samar’s clean energy transition.
The initiative forms part of the Localizing Energy Transition program led by ICSC in partnership with AktivAsia Pilipinas and supported by Tara Climate Foundation.
It is implemented under the Clean, Affordable and Secure Energy (CASE) for Southeast Asia project led by the German Agency for International Cooperation on behalf of the International Climate Initiative. (TAC)
