Eastern Samar strengthens health ad nutrition programs through joint board meeting

The provincial government of Eastern Samar successfully convened the 4th Provincial Health Board (PHB) and Provincial Nutrition Council (PNC) meeting, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening health and nutrition programs and enhancing data-driven planning for 2026.
The meeting was attended by Board Member Atty. Byron Suyot, chair of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan Committee on Health, together with Dr. Marriane Esedirio, Dr. Jessica Sabalberino, Mayor Annaliza Gonzalez-Kwan, and representatives from various local government units (LGUs) and partner agencies.
Among the key highlights was the presentation of the Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) Profiling Results, which will serve as a basis for forecasting medical requirements and logistical support for the upcoming year.
Updates on the implementation of the Philippine Multisectoral Nutrition Project (PMNP) were also presented, with 14 LGUs currently benefiting from the program.
The body also discussed concerns related to program implementation and beneficiary targeting, as well as the increasing incidence of lifestyle-related diseases, with 279,420 recorded cases in 2025.
Emphasis was placed on strengthening inter-agency coordination, improving data sharing mechanisms, and ensuring effective program delivery.
The meeting concluded with a unified commitment among stakeholders to sustain gains and further advance initiatives aimed at improving the health and nutrition status of communities across Eastern Samar. (TAC-GBP)
