The provincial government of Eastern Samar reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the local tourism industry following the courtesy visit of Karina Rosa S. Tiopes to Gov. RV Evardone on March 31, 2026.
During the meeting, both officials joined by Provincial Tourism Officer Neil Alejandro Pinarok discussed several tourism sites across the province that hold strong potential for development.
The conversation focused on how these destinations can be improved and promoted in the future, with the goal of positioning Eastern Samar as a must-visit location.
While current efforts are temporarily focused on addressing the ongoing energy crisis, Gov. Evardone emphasized that tourism development remains a key priority for the provincial government.
He shared his hope that, once the situation stabilizes, Eastern Samar will steadily rise as one of the country’s emerging tourist destinations.
Director Tiopes expressed confidence in the province’s potential, particularly highlighting its rich underwater beauty.
She noted that Eastern Samar could eventually flourish as a diving destination, comparable to Southern Leyte, known for its marine attractions.
Although plans are momentarily on hold, the provincial government remains optimistic. With a clear vision already in place, Eastern Samar is looking forward to brighter days ahead—when it can fully pursue initiatives that will boost tourism, create opportunities, and showcase its natural treasures to the world.
