Gov. Evardone commits more help for Suluan Island after Typhoon Tino

Gov. RV Evardone personally led the provincial government team to Suluan Island to assess the damage caused by Typhoon Tino and deliver construction materials to affected residents.
After traveling nearly five hours from Borongan City, the team turned over 200 galvanized iron sheets and 100 Hardiflex boards to the Barangay Council of Suluan, noting that families whose homes were destroyed should be prioritized in the distribution.
The visit also served as an initial assessment of the situation on the island, as the governor committed that more help will follow once the full extent of the damage and the needs of the residents were determined.
A day before the trip, on November 4, 2025, Gov. Evardone turned over 1,000 food packs to the LGU of Guiuan for distribution to affected families in Suluan, Homonhon, and nearby areas, in partnership with the DSWD.
Suluan Island, the farthest island in Eastern Samar, was among those severely affected by Typhoon Tino, which damaged homes and disrupted livelihoods across coastal communities.
