DTI, provincial government launch first-ever Sinirangan Creative Industry and Tourism Summit

As part of its 60th founding anniversary, Eastern Samar, in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Eastern Samar, hosted the first-ever Sinirangan Creative Industry and Tourism Summit today, November 5, 2025, at the Provincial Capitol Gym.
The inaugural summit aimed to provide protection and support to Creative Industries not only in the Province but also throughout the Philippines, and convened a group of creative professionals such as visual artists, architecture designers, publishing and printed media practitioners, and performing artists from Eastern Samar.
In her message, DTI Provincial Director Ruthelma Samonte, highlighted that the creative industry is based on Republic Act 11904 or the Philippine Creative Industries Development Act.
This law focuses on developing globally competitive creative industries, protecting intellectual property rights, strengthening institutional support and incentives, encouraging innovation and technology utilization, and promoting creative education.
Participants also engaged in plenary sessions that brought together representatives from partner agencies, including SBC, DICT, DOST, ESSU, and DTI, and those from the creative industries’ nine domains.
Among those present at the event were Board Member Atty. PJ Evardone; Provincial Tourism Officer Neil Alejandro Pinarok, representing Gov. RV Evardone; DTI Eastern Samar Provincial DDirector Ruthelma Samonte; Dr. Aris Lapada, ESSU dean of student services and alumni affairs; Dr. Melvin Joel B. Sacmar, DOST assistant provincial science and technology director; Ma. Joy Abobo of DTI Small Business Corporation; Lisa Cidro of DTI; and City Population Officer Mark Lucio Cortado. (SEJ-JDM)
