KOICA, provincial gov’t inspect reconstructed FAMH, assure “kayang-kaya” operation

To ensure the readiness and overall condition of the newly reconstructed Felipe Abrigo Memorial Hospital (FAMH), the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), in collaboration with the provincial government under the leadership of Gov. RV Evardone, conducted an inspection on February 9.
The inspection focused on assessing the current status of hospital rooms and other facilities, as well as discussing key preparations for the delivery and installation of medical equipment.
Leading the inspection was Dr. Clarinda Surpia Gerodias, FAMH chief of hospital, who provided updates and explained important information regarding the hospital’s present condition and operational readiness.
The reconstruction of the FAMH is a flagship project of KOICA and Hyundai Asan aimed at improving healthcare services in Eastern Samar.
Also discussed during the inspection were the target timelines for the procurement and installation of medical equipment, the hospital’s projected operational start in June 2026, and the overall project schedule for 2026.
The provincial government assured KOICA of its full support to ensure the smooth and successful operation of the hospital within the target period, with officials expressing confidence in meeting the timeline, saying, “kayang-kaya.”
Joining Gov. Evardone during the inspection were Provincial Health Officer Dr. Marian Ramas Isiderio, Provincial Budget Officer Atty. Cyril Alzate, and General Services Officer Ruel Cadiz.
Representing KOICA and Hyundai Asan were Kim Min Kyu, project manager/Hyundai Asan; Cho In Wan, manager/Hyundai Asan; Han Go Eun, KOICA Young Professional/Hyundai Asan; Kim Heung Hee, monitoring and evaluation specialist; Im Hyea Bin, field manager/KOICA PMC-Hyundai Asan, and Janica Ivy Anacta, program officer/KOICA PMC-Hyundai Asan.
