Almost three years ago, on April 4, 2022, in response to the rising healthcare needs of Estehanons who are dialysis patients, the provincial government launched a Hemodialysis Center at Eastern Samar Provincial Hospital (ESPH).
In an exclusive interview, Dr. Jessica B. Sabalberino said Eastern Samar has 141 dialysis patients treated in three shifts – 5am, 10am, and 3pm, with sessions lasting four hours until 7pm.
Since its launch, the program has been free of charge, a vital initiative by Governor Ben P. Evardone to ensure dialysis patients no longer need to travel to Leyte for treatment.
Dr. Sabalberino said the hemodialysis program has had a profound impact on the lives of Estehanons, both economically and in terms of convenience.
By eliminating the need for patients to travel long distances for treatment, the program has not only eased the financial burden of Estehanons but also significantly improved their quality of life, offering them a much-needed sense of comfort and stability. (KDA-GBP)
